Jack Malone started studying music in the year 1999, learning the traditional music on the violin from Gearoid O' Leary. He received these lessons until 2003. He studied piano from 2000-2011 with Irene Walsh. He completed his grade 8 in piano with honours in 2011. He studied the trombone with Gerard Condon from 2003-2011 and completed his grade 6 in 2010. He also studied junior cert music with Gerard Condon from 2005-2008, and Leaving cert music with Irene Harte from 2009-2011. I now have completed 1 year of the B.mus. Degree course in The CIT Cork school of music. He has played with Clonakilty Brass Band since 2005 and with them he has won the Junior section of the National Band Championships, The Junior section of the South of Ireland Band Championships, and the Intermediate section of the South of Ireland Band Championships.

He played with the County Cork Youth Orchestra from 2008-2011. He now plays with the Cork school of music's Symphony orchestra, Jazz big band, and Wind Ensemble. The highest point in his career so far was his first paid gig playing for the televised Easter vigil mass in Cobh Cathedral in 2012. He is aiming to become a trombone teacher for a few years after he qualifys. He then hopes to study a masters in trombone performance and after that have a career as a professional musician. The person who most inspired him to go after a career in music was his trombone teacher Gerard Condon who always encouraged him to improve and push himself. The experience of playing in the brass band under Gerard's baton also given him an appreciation of playing with other musicians and gave him a desire to join other ensembles.
